If you happen to be in England right now (oh, how lucky you are!), might I suggest that you jot down the above address and hop on the next train to Brampton? Please do. There you will find the original Flour Sac - a quaint home bakery and tea room just around the corner from one of my childhood homes.

Welcome to my little version of The Flour Sac. This is me, Brooke, a twenty-something girl with a passion for cooking and whole, clean food. And it's not all about just eating - but mostly the process, the love that you taste in the finished product, and the joy it is to share with others. To me, it’s pretty simple like this. My intention is to make delicious food by using healthy ingredients. I prefer to use a variety of whole grains, natural sweeteners, lots of fresh vegetables, healthy fats, and the like. This kind of food makes me excited and it makes me feel good. I have found exploring the world of whole, natural ingredients so inspiring. There are endless possibilities and techniques to discover.

This blog is my way of documenting my continual learning process in the kitchen and sharing some of my experiences along the way. You will find a variety of dishes here - and certainly a few treats to satisfy. I hope you find some inspiration here in my Flour Sack.

  2. OK, I have the same recipe for Chocolate chip cookies. It throws them over the top to make them with organic sugar, it has more molassas. Then brown the butter (you cook the butter on medium low heat until it is clear and browning..not burnt) as well. You will not believe how unreal they are. I could open a bake shop just selling the cookies.

  3. Kristie - I actually DO make them with organic sugar, and I agree, the touch more of molasses is great. :) And in fact, my sister has made them with browned butter before, too! I love them both ways. Great minds think alike, yes? ;)
